Health officials have confirmed three Shigella cases linked to the recent food poisoning incident at Al Reem Restaurant in Kaloor on thursday.District Medical Officer  Dr.Shahir Sha R officially confirmed the cases.

Police has registered a case based on a complaint filed by Tony Peter, a native of Poonithura. The restaurant has faced similar issues before.

Earlier this month, around 38 people reportedly suffered from food poisoning after consuming food there. Of them, blood samples from three people tested positive for Shigella.

The restaurant owners said it was not their fault. They claimed they operate in a hygienic environment and suggested the contamination could have come from the water supplied by the Corporation.

Congress leaders held a mass protest in front of the restaurant yesterday.
